Community Based Tourism
We are pleased to announce the launch of community-based tourism experiences in traditional villages in Bali
If you are interested to learn about Bali culture, having an immersive experience in a traditional Bali village, connecting with the Balinese people and their families, experiencing delicious Balinese food, and having a truly authentic non-touristy experience then these are for you.
It seems many people come to our beautiful island of Bali but very few really experience Bali culture and be part of the day-to-day life for a day.
These are connecting experiences, as the Balinese community wants to freely share their passions and gifts through collaborative co-creation. That is what togetherness tours are all about.
This is a grassroots initiative designed to bring people together from different cultures, countries, and backgrounds in a spirit of respect for each other's ways of life and an opportunity to learn from each other.
Indigenous wisdom dictates that connectivity through a platform of spiritual unity enables diversity and differences to be understood, acknowledged, respected, and accepted.
By coming out to the village for a day, you will be supporting the communities just by your presence. The Balinese are some of the friendliest, most welcoming people on earth and they love to meet people from other countries and invite them into their villages and homes in a genuine, caring way.
Each experience involves a gentle early morning walk in the rice fields ( maximum 2 hours ), a guided walk through the village observing the Balinese at work, and meeting some of the locals along the way. You will learn about the history of the area, from experts in this field, have a discussion about Balinese religion and spirituality, learn about the Subak, the historical way of rice farming which is unique to the island, and have an opportunity to ask any questions you have about Balinese culture and way of life.
Depending on the village you will visit, you will see some of the creative art forms such as traditional clay pottery making, honey produced from stingless black bees, handwoven textiles called Ikat, and an opportunity to purchase directly from the weavers, learn about the sustainable environmental initiatives being instituted by the village leaders, such as the reintroduction of organic farming, witness traditional Balinese dancing performed by children from the village, and enjoy a delicious Balinese lunch made from ingredients from the village.
You will be picked up from your hotel at approximately 6 am, spend all day in the village, and be returned to your hotel at 2 pm.
All our hosts speak English and would love to teach you a few Balinese words if you wish.
We support the Balinese wisdom concept of Tri Hita Karana, bringing about harmonious relationships, and the relationship of a person with God, the environment, and humanity.
We have a no plastic policy, (so please bring your own reusable non-plastic water bottle ) and can cater to various food requirements including non-dairy, vegetarian, and vegan.
Please note if there are special cultural events happening on the day you are in the village such as temple ceremonies, weddings, tooth filing, baby coming of age ceremonies, or death ceremonies, you will be invited to observe if you wish.
and we look forward to greeting you in paradise!
